Alternative Berlin by E-Bike: Street Art, Squats & Subculture

Your ride begins in Prenzlauer Berg, the neighbourhood that quietly housed East Berlin's artists, dissidents, and opposition networks before the Wall fell. The streets look calm now, but the history runs deep.

Pedal down one of Europe's most ambitious pieces of socialist urban planning — a wide, monumental boulevard lined with Stalinist-era apartment blocks built to project the confidence of the GDR. The scale is still striking.

One of the most powerful stretches of urban art in the world: a surviving section of the Berlin Wall painted by artists from over 20 countries in 1990. The murals are vivid, political, and impossible to rush past.

Cross the Spree on this Gothic-revival double-decker bridge, which once served as a border crossing between East and West Berlin. Today it connects Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg — two neighbourhoods with a shared rebellious spirit.

Follow the riverbank as the city opens up around you — former industrial sites, beach bars, and club terraces lining the water. The Spree corridor is where Berlin's nightlife and creative scene grew roots after reunification.

A former railway repair yard turned cultural complex, RAW-Gelände is one of Berlin's most concentrated patches of street art. The surrounding Wrangelkiez streets are just as rich — murals, tags, and paste-ups on almost every surface.

Once a railway station, now a sprawling park at the heart of Kreuzberg — busy with market stalls, locals, and a distinctive atmosphere that reflects the neighbourhood's mix of communities. Your guide will give you the full picture.

Oranienstraße is one of Berlin's most politically charged streets, and Klein Istanbul is the cultural heartland of Kreuzberg's Turkish and Kurdish communities. The shops, food, and street life here have shaped the neighbourhood for generations.

This 19th-century former hospital became one of Berlin's most significant squats after the Wall fell, and today functions as a cultural centre. It stands as a physical record of Kreuzberg's resistance to the status quo.
