Berlin Wall & Cold War by E-Bike

Your ride begins in Prenzlauer Berg, a neighbourhood that grew up in the shadow of the Wall. Your guide sets the scene — what daily life looked, felt, and sounded like when a city was cut in two.

Zionskirche was one of the few spaces where dissent could breathe under East German rule. Your guide explains how churches became quiet centres of resistance — and why that mattered when the system finally cracked.

On the night of November 9th, 1989, this checkpoint was the first to open. Crowds gathered, guards hesitated, and history moved. Your guide walks you through the moments that led to that night — and what happened in the hours that followed.

This park was once the death strip — a heavily guarded corridor where crossing meant risking your life. Today it hosts markets, musicians, and Sunday crowds. The contrast is something you feel before your guide even says a word.

Bernauer Strasse witnessed some of the most desperate escape attempts of the Wall years — people lowering themselves from windows, tunnelling underground, and leaping for the West in full view of cameras and crowds. Your guide brings those moments back to the street.

One of the most complete surviving sections of the Wall stands here, along with documentation of the lives lost trying to cross it. Your guide puts names and stories to what could otherwise feel like monument and statistic.

Trains once ran through Nordbahnhof without stopping — West Berlin trains passing through sealed East German underground stations, passengers forbidden from leaving. The preserved death strip above ground and the ghostly platform below tell the same story from two different angles.

One of the last standing watchtowers marks this stop, now a memorial to Günther Litfin — the first person shot and killed trying to cross the Wall. Your guide gives weight to what this structure meant when it was manned, and what it means now.

The Brandenburg Gate stood stranded in no-man's land for 28 years, visible but unreachable from either side. Arriving by e-bike, you get a sense of the scale — and the symbolism — of what reunification meant to this city.

The most famous crossing point between East and West Berlin has a complicated present — part memorial, part tourist spectacle. Your guide cuts through the noise and tells you what actually happened here during the Cold War's tensest standoffs.

This was the crossing point where East Germans said goodbye to Western relatives — often not knowing when or whether they'd meet again. The building earned its name from the scenes that played out at its doors. Your guide tells some of those stories.
